CRUISING ENTRY PERMITS

Every single vessel, regardless of the type of visit or permit status, will undergo an inspection upon arrival. This inspection includes both an interior and exterior (hull) check to determine whether the vessel is authorized to remain within the Galapagos Marine Reserve waters.
Private Yacht Visits to Protected Areas in the Galapagos
To visit the protected areas and remote islands of the Galapagos Archipelago aboard a private yacht, the following requirements must be met:
1. Entry Authorization ("Autógrafo")
This is an official entry permit issued by the Ecuadorian government. The process must be initiated at least 60 days before the planned arrival.
To begin the application, the following documents must be submitted:
- Passport copies of all guests and crew on board
- Certificate of Registry
- Blackwater or sewage system certification
- Protection and Indemnity Insurance (P&I)
2. Galapagos National Park Authorization
An authorization from the Galapagos National Park Directorate (GNPD) is also required, confirming that:

- A certified naturalist guide will be onboard for the duration of the visit
Sailing Between Main Ports
The Galapagos Islands have three main ports:
- Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz Island)
- Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (San Cristóbal Island)
- Puerto Villamil (Isabela Island)
To sail between these ports, the yacht must also obtain an Autógrafo. The application process and documentation are the same as outlined above.

Emergency Arrivals or Arrivals Without an Autógrafo
In exceptional or emergency cases, vessels arriving without an Autógrafo:
- Will be allowed to remain in only one port.
- The length of stay will be determined by the maritime authorities after an inspection and risk assessment.
