Ricardo Arenas — Founder
A resident of the Galápagos since 1985, Ricardo Arenas has built his life around the islands and their unique environmental and regulatory framework. For nearly four decades, he has been deeply connected to the Galápagos, developing a comprehensive understanding of their natural, geographic and social significance, and the responsibility required to protect them through truly sustainable activity.
Since 1998, he has been dedicated to the development of private yacht services in the islands, founding Sail’n Galapagos, the first agency in the Galápagos focused exclusively on this sector, after playing a key role in the development of the Special Law of Galápagos.
Working closely with local authorities, he helped establish many of the procedures and operational standards still in force today, supporting a significant share of international yacht traffic arriving in the islands.
Today, operating as Superyacht Galapagos, Ricardo focuses on sustainable operations, environmental responsibility and long-term collaboration with yacht owners and captains. He has represented the agency at international yacht shows and industry events for over 20 years and remains actively engaged in strengthening its international relationships. Within the yachting industry, particularly among captains, the name Ricardo has become closely associated with visiting the Galápagos aboard foreign-flagged yachts.
Beyond agency services, Ricardo supports education through the Scalesia Foundation and collaborates with the Galápagos National Park and the Charles Darwin Foundation on conservation and scientific initiatives.
His commitment goes beyond service — it is a commitment to Galápagos, its nature and its people.
